So. This article was supposed to be about Rajiv Joseph’s play Gruesome Playground Injuries. I was expecting myself to be able to write a full-fledged review about the show.
Except I can’t.
Why? I have no idea. The show was great. It’s about two childhood friends, one who keeps physically messing himself up, the other who becomes psychologically messed up as she ages, and about how they realize they are each other’s ground to reality, that no matter what goes on in life, all it takes is that one other person to make it all better. You do have to wait until the end of the show to piece it all together, but it’s worth it.
That’s all I can really say about it. I have no idea how to write a full review for this show, so you’re better off seeing it for yourself. Find it at the 2econd Stage Theatre, on 43rd and Eighth (you can take the A C E trains to 42nd St. and use the 43rd St. exit. Theater will be across the street on your right).
