Well, we’ve come to the end of our “Month of Love,” as it were, so to wrap things up I thought I’d present the most universal love song ever written.
Note: It’s hard to tell for sure but I don’t think this is exactly the same as the studio version. The Beatles’ studio recordings are pretty much impossible to find online outside of official channels like Spotify and iTunes.
Honestly, I could probably just stop writing right now; the song kind of speaks for itself, But when have you ever known me to stop writing? I guess I just love hearing — er, reading my own voice.
“All You Need is Love” may well be the perfect song to sum of the message the Beatles spent their career trying to convey. And it’s about as simple a message as you could get. Because in the end, it’s not the money, or material objects, or fame, or whatever else, that will make a lasting, fulfilling impression. It’s loving and being loved that counts. Whether that’s family, friends, romantic partners, pets, that love is what makes life worthwhile. Whether you have nothing or everything, love is what will carry you through or keep you grounded. It really is all you need, as far as creating a happy life.
After all, in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make, or so the saying goes.
